Dr. Ayman Esh of the Sugar Crops Research Institute in the Department of Plant Pathology’s Agricultural Research Center in Giza, will be researching the Characterization of bacterial endosymbionts of Rhizoctonia fungi. Dr. Warren Copes from the USDA/ARS Southern Horticultural Laboratory in Poplarville, MS will be investigating the Characterization of Rhizoctonia fungi associated with azalea. Dr. Suha Jabaji of McGill University in Montreal, Canada will be studying the Characterization of transcriptome of Rhizoctonia solani and volvatoxin production. While they will be spending most of their time in the Fungal Ecology and Population Biology Lab, we look forward to having many fruitful interactions while they are here.'

She will be conducting research into the genetic transformation of fungi and the molecular procedures necessary to analyze the transformants. She will be transforming Clonostachys rosea and characterizing the transformants with techniques including PCR for detection of transformants and Southern blot analysis of the site of integration of the transforming DNA.
